A number of our readers have been asking what British grown flowers are available for weddings in April and May.
Although early in the year, there is still quite an array of British grown flowers available to the spring bride.
Charlie Ryrie from The Real Cut Flower Garden regularly supplies natural British grown flowers for such occasions and advises us that tulips are amazing at this time of year, especially in beautiful cream, white and pink doubles that look like peonies in bouquets.
Forget-me-not like brunneras have dainty flowers in blues and whites which look great mixed with hyacinths and acid green euphorbias.
The Duchess of Cambridge used Lily of the valley for her wedding last April and as a result it is proving very popular this year.
Blue camassia, and scilla are available in April along with the rose like delicate blooms of ranunculus.
As we move into May the acid green/yellow flowers of alchemilla provide a delicate froth around sweet rocket in pinks and white, white camassia and blue centaurea.
Pinks are represented by spires of persicaria, peonies, iris and the first roses. By the end of May the first annuals such as cornflowers, ammi and others are joined by more roses and peonies.
